Scent from ……. Cheshire Home Fragrance

By November 15, 2023No Comments

Home fragrance has come a long, LONG way since our parents were bombarded with ads for Shake n Vac or Glade aerosols. Who else can still feel those on the back of their throat? *Cough, cough, splutter* Altogether more subtle and authentic, and above all, more natural (and free from nasties), home fragrance – whether that’s by way of candles, oils, a diffuser, or melts – is now a household essential, albeit with a luxurious feel.

Fragrance Makes You Feel

Fragrance can be so much more than a pleasant smell – there’s a good reason aromatherapy is so popular and involved in many holistic and complementary therapies and has been for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Aromatherapy is used to address a wide range of physical and emotional issues, including stress reduction, pain relief, relaxation, mood enhancement, and more. Certain essential oils are believed to have specific properties and therapeutic effects. Imagine, your favourite fragrance could actually make you feel better! Whilst we don’t claim to use only essential oils, it’s a fact that the right scents can be calming, uplifting, cheering, or invigorating…

Even if we go right back to fragrance basics, take a moment to consider your favourite smells. Coffee, cut grass, lilies, baby powder perhaps? Seaside maybe, or a pine forest? They’ll often make you feel a certain way or take you back to a happy time. Who else has caught a whiff of perfume only to be immediately reminded of a teenage favourite? For me, it was Impulse and Anais Anais on a week’s residential to Llandudno.  All the girls sprayed bucket loads of it before the evening discos; happy days and lovely memories. Scents are powerful; and evocative. They can make you FEEL.

Cheshire Home Fragrance for Your Home

We can laugh at the aforementioned chemical-riddled, cough-inducing, synthetic-smelling ‘air fresheners’ of the decades that taste forgot. Beware, though – even nowadays, not all home fragrance products are created equal. And that’s pretty much why we founded Cheshire Home Fragrance – to create beautiful products, yes, but also safe and ecologically sound products which smell divine. Cheshire Home Fragrance wax products are made by hand – and made with love – in Cheshire using vegan-friendly, cruelty-free ingredients. Naturally, they are also exceptionally high quality – but never, ever at silly prices.

Since we moved to our gorgeous new shop on T he Boulevard near the station in Hazel Grove, we’ve met lots of new people as well as old friends, regular customers, and lovely neighbours. The common theme when someone visits us for the first time is ‘ooh, what’s that gorgeous smell?’ That’s because all our products are made right here, in-house. The answer will vary from day to day – pop in and see (or smell) for yourself. You can park right outside, too.

Painting Cheshire Home Fragrance Pink

Talking of popping in, wow, wow, and thrice WOW. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Our little event in October raised over £1000 for Prevent Breast Cancer as part of the brilliant Paint the Town Pink initiative. Guests donated a fiver for a glass of pink fizz and a divine cupcake – donated by Stockport’s favourite bakery, Nice Buns. The shop was alive and buzzing all day, and we were honoured and humbled by visits from some incredible, inspirational ladies. Some are going through treatment; others have been through and are recovering from breast cancer. Your support meant such a lot, and we are proud to do our little bit to support women like you.

A huge thank you must go to our amazing local business friends who donated the most fabulous raffle prizes. You are all wonderful, and we’re so proud to know you:

Thank you also to everyone who bought the raffle tickets and well done to our lucky winners.

Strictly Johnny Dancing

But we’re not ready to stop just yet. How can we? Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK with 1 woman diagnosed every 10 minutes. Around 55,000 women and 400 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK. In England, every year around 47,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer. (Source: Breast Cancer Now)

On Saturday 18 November, my brother – the irrepressible, inimitable Johnny de M – is taking on his biggest charity challenge yet: a 24-hour Dance-a-Thon for Prevent Breast Cancer, in the VIP Suite at renowned party palace New York New York in Manchester. Everything he raises will go DIRECTLY to help build the new National Breast Cancer Screening Clinic. This is more crucial than ever, with breast screening clinics closing across the UK. Stockport and Salford screening clinics have already closed. This new centre will be able to help screen 13,000 more women every year.

Please come and support Johnny on the night – from midnight until 4am – for a donation on the door. He’ll need as much support – and as many Dancing Buddies – as he can get. A great night for a great cause. Who’s in?
